Hi and welcome to my website!

My name is Gillian Dunphy and am a professional freelance makeup artist specialising in Weddings and all special occasions. I am based in County Clare but will travel to most areas of the country.

I use only the best products and follow all the latest trends to make sure that you look a truly beautiful version of yourself. Too much makeup! Yes, the wedding is a big celebration but try not to overdo it. Less is more.
Stuck on trends! Don’t follow current trends, which will pass. 5 years from now you want to look at photos that have a timeless, classic and neutral face.
Be yourself! If you never wear a stitch of makeup, don’t go too drastic. You want your fiancé to recognise you! Look like you, only fresher.
Matching bridesmaids! Gone are the days when bridesmaids all resemble big matching meringues. Let your wedding party keep their individuality and wear looks that suit them.
Forcing others! Don’t force anyone to be too made up for your event if they don't normally wear much makeup; you will create needless stress.
Changing routines! Too many brides rush out and get facials, tans and teeth whitening a week before the wedding. Skin erupts, gums flare up, and tans can be blotchy. Stick with your regular skincare, eat well, exercise, have lots of water and sleep, and less caffeine.
Forgetting supplies! Even the most professional of makeup's will need touching up at some stage. You will need Cotton buds, Lipstick, Powder, Breath Freshener, Perfume, Sewing Kit
Wrong look! Many people take pictures out of magazines and request a look that doesn’t suit them or is inappropriate. Match your look to the feel of the event and to suit your face.
Over-dew! Going overboard on highlighters and glitter can make you look greasy in photos. Stick with a little highlighting on cheekbones or eyes, but not whole face and avoid lotions with SPF as they can give off a glare in flash photography.
Gloss crazy! Do not go overboard on the gloss. Having your hair and veil stuck to your lips is not a good look! Keep lips creamy or matte.

Weddings - A wedding is a once in a lifetime event. Let me create a special look for you that will last in your memories and photos for years to come. I will cater for the entire wedding party no matter how big or small. Relax in the comfort of your home or hotel and have your makeup done in style. I recommend all brides have a trial before the wedding day at least 4-6 weeks beforehand so that I can get to know your personality and style and we can discuss options and try out styles to suit. Please try and book your wedding as early as you possibly can as dates book out very quickly. Check out my top tips page for helpful wedding hints!

Debs - Why not have your makeup done professionally for your debs either at home or even better - get your friends together and start the party in style!! But book early as debs season is busy.

Why not treat yourself to a makeup lesson in the comfort of your own home and learn the professionals tips and techniques to make the most of everything you have. Or even get a group of friends together for a makeup evening? (Try not to have too much wine before the eyeliner goes on!)

Wedding Makeup - Top Tips:

The style of your dress decides how your makeup should be. The simpler the dress, more simple the hair and makeup should be.
Don’t get a facial done just a week before the wedding. This will make the impurities show on the face. Unless you have them on a regular basis, a facial will just pull the impurities to the surface and cause you to breakout. Don't make any changes to your skincare products or makeup in the weeks leading up to the event either if you want to look as flawless as possible.
Try your best to avoid the wedding day during your period.
If a pimple appears on the wedding day then don’t pick it. Use aloe Vera to heal.
Use waterproof make up - for obvious reasons!
Don’t use too much makeup if you love to be yourself. Your make up should be an enhancement of what you normally wear. For example, if you usually go for the natural look, stick to natural colours but slightly stronger. You should feel comfortable in the make up you are wearing, this is not the time to try out anything drastic.
Try and focus on the eyes or lips and underplay the others with neutral pink or brown shades
Consider having your makeup done by a professional, even better by one who will come to you. This will take a lot of stress away and will ensure you have a flawless makeup which will last you well into the wee hours! If you are having your make up done professionally, make sure you have a practice run before your big day.
Eyebrows - have them professionally shaped before your big day - leave at least 3 days between this and the wedding in case of any irritation. Eyebrows frame your face and it can make a huge difference if you have the professionally shaped.
Finally remember on your big day to have the following to hand: Cotton buds, Lipstick, Powder, Breath Freshener, Perfume, Sewing Kit
